● KATA
Kata is a systematically organized series of defensive and offensive techniques performed in sequence against one or more imaginary opponents.
|

SANCHIN
"Three ways" ("Three Combats")
The first - basic - original and traditional Kata.
This Kata brought back from China by Grand Master UECHI Kanbun.

|

|
KANSHIWA
"KAN" from the name of KANbun and "SHIWA" from the name of Shu SHI WA, founders of this Karate-Do system.
The second Kata (KYU-Kata).
Created by Grand Master UECHI Kanei in the early 1950s'.

KANSHU
"KAN" from the name of KANbun and "SHU" from the name of SHU Shi Wa, founders of this Karate-Do system. Before 1970 it used to be called 'Daini Seisan'.
The third Kata (KYU-Kata).
It is created by Grand Master ITOKAZU Seiki in the early 1950s'

The fourth Kata (KYU-Kata).
Created by Grand Master UEHARA Saburo in the late 1950s'.

SEISAN
"Thirteen" ("Thirteen Ways" or "Thirteen Combats")
The fifth Kata (DAN-Kata).
This Kata brought back from China by Grand Master UECHI Kanbun.

SEIRYU
"Sixteen" ("Sixteen Ways" or "Sixteen Combats")
The sixth Kata (DAN-Kata).
Created by Grand Master UECHI Kanei in the early 1960s'.

KANCHIN
"Kanbuns' Way" or "Kanbuns' Combat" ("KAN" from the name of KANbun)
The seventh Kata (DAN-Kata).
Created by Grand Master UECHI Kanei in the early 1960s'.

SANSEIRYU
"Thirtysix" ("36 Ways" or "36 Combats")
The eight Kata (DAN-Kata).
This Kata brought back from China by Grand Master UECHI Kanbun.

The first Bunkai (KYU-Bunkai)
Training method on the base one-by-one analysis of the technical sequences. It consist 10 targets with 4 performing directions.

SEISAN
The second Bunkai (KYU-Bunkai)
Training method on the base group-by-group analysis of the technical sequences. It consist 19 targets with 7 performing directions.

SANSEIRYU
The third Bunkai (KYU-Bunkai)
Training method on the base group-by-group analysis of the technical sequences. It consist 21 targets with 12 performing directions.

● KITAE
The Body Pounding --- The purposes of this method are toughen skins and body, raising the power and develop penetrating eyes.
|

● YAKUSOKU-KUMITE
Prearranged Sparing --- The training system practiced by two opponents for the purpose of learning smooth and quick motions and basic techniques within the agreed rules. It prepare the learner for free sparing and fighting situation.

● JIYU-KUMITE
Free Sparing --- Training method of two opponents which use individual techniques, motions and reflexes, based on the principle of rigid rules. It enables the learner to sharpen his reflexes and fighting sense in the situation of real fighting.
